After more than 3 million players experienced Scavengers Studio’s sci-fi battle royale game Darwin Project on Steam Early Access and Xbox Game Preview, the title is finally hitting full release today, as well as on PlayStation 4. Think of the game as the next step above Survivor, where players in a game show face off against each other in a frosty battle to the death.

Set against a dystopian post-apocalyptic landscape in the Northern Canadian Rockies, an impending ice age has kick-started a twisted new reality show in which participants must fight to the death to earn their survival. Darwin Project is a free-to-play title that offers a competitive multiplayer third-person experience with an emphasis on survival. Players must withstand extreme environmental conditions, track opponents, craft tools, and set traps to be the last one standing at sunrise.

As an added twist, one lucky player per match will have the chance to take on the role of Show Director and monitor the battle from the skies to dole out punishment and support to any combatants who cross them with a whole slew of unique, arena-shaping abilities. This also includes the ability to reveal one unlucky player to the rest of the combatants on their minimaps.

As part of the full release, Scavengers Studio has added plenty of new content and features to Darwin Project, including a new class system, where players can choose from among three pieces of Gear to determine their class specializations, as well as an updated shop for cosmetic items.

Darwin Project can be found on the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, and Steam.
