A24 has already gifted us with a Director’s Cut of Midsommar just a mere month after the film’s theatrical release and now it appears we’re also getting an extended cut of Ari Aster‘s directorial debut.

Bloody Disgusting confirmed that the University of Chicago is screening a 3-hour long extended Director’s Cut of Aster’s masterpiece, Hereditary, on Saturday, October 26th at 9:30PM.

The screening was brought to my attended by @valentinetony who discovered the listing over at the UChicago website. I emailed the school who confirmed that they’ll be presenting a “new Director’s Cut of the film” that “will be about 3 hours long.”

I don’t believe Aster has ever talked about an extended cut of Hereditary so it’s unclear what we can expect, but I’m already trembling in excitement over the thought that we’ll get more footage of Toni Collette‘s Oscar-worthy performance (I still haven’t come to terms with her ridiculous/surprising snub).

Tickets appear to be $7 but you cannot purchase them in advance, which means you’re going to have to fistfight me for a place in line.

It’s unclear if this will become a nationwide Halloween event through A24 or a one-time special engagement, but I would think a home video release is imminent. Watch this spot for updates as we learn them.

Hail Paimon.
