It’s TGS 2019 over in Japan, and that’s been offering us up some juicy morsels of gaming goodness so far, including a first look at 4v1 multiplayer title Project Resistance, a spinoff of survival horror series Resident Evil.

The Gameplay Overview Trailer makes it incredibly clear just what kind of game we’re getting. As thought previously, it’s a 4v1 set up similar to other horror fare such as Dead By Daylight and Friday the 13th. Four players are the skill-based survivors (Tank, Healer, Hacker, and err, Man With Strong Fists), trying to escape an Umbrella facility on the outskirts of Raccoon City, and a fifth player is the ‘Mastermind’ a shadowy figure in a control room who has the power to turn out lights, attack with turrets and placed monstrosities, and when they want to get a bit more ‘hands-on’, they can take control of zombies or even hulking Tyrant in a Trenchcoat, Mr.X.

You can sign up for the beta, which takes place next month, by heading over to the website. No actual release date is set, but we know it’s coming to PS4, Xbox One, and Steam.

It may not be Resident Evil 8 or even Resident Evil 3 Remake, but it’s not like those games aren’t still being made. It’ll be interesting to see if Capcom can finally deliver a multiplayer Resi in the modern era that actually captures the essence of the series. To be fair, Project Resistance has a secret Umbrella base, T-Virus monsters, zombies, and elaborate traps, so it ticks at least a few boxes.
