The failed launch of the “Dark Universe” has led to Universal Studios rethinking plans for their classic monster properties, with Blumhouse and Leigh Whannell’s new take on The Invisible Man set to kick off a new initiative next year. What comes after? Deadline reports that the studio has linked up with Paul Feig to write and direct a monster movie titled Dark Army!

The mysterious project is said to be based on an original idea by Feig (Bridesmaids, Ghostbusters, A Simple Favor), and the site’s reporter Mike Fleming Jr. notes:

“No one was willing to be specific on how Feig’s film will tie into the Monster universe.”

“I’m told the project will include characters from Universal’s classic monster library and original characters created by Feig.”

Feig will produce with Laura Fischer. More details as we learn them.
