It’s a frontrunner for Game of the Year as it is, but it’s nice to see that From Software’s latest title has already been experienced by a healthily-sized audience, as latest sales figures for Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice show it has reached almost 4 million units shipped worldwide.

The financial report of From Software’s parent company Kadokawa revealed that 3.8 million copies of Sekiro have been sold in as of June 30, 2019, which covers the first three months after its March 22 launch. That’s a pretty impressive number for such a challenging singleplayer title, let alone a brand new IP.

In the same report, it was also revealed that From Software’s Dark Souls series has amassed a whopping 25 million units sold. Again this is quite remarkable as the previous figure before the launch of Dark Souls 3 was 10 million. Sales of that game, and the remastered version of the first game, are likely to have been instrumental in that additional 15 million copies since March 2016.

So From Software’s model is clearly doing well for it. The company’s next title, Elden Ring, has great sales potential as a result, and the fact it features a collaboration with Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin should only sweeten the pot.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is out now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
